Meteora is without any doubt one of the 

most

beautiful places in Greece and in  the  world! The

view of the dark rocks is absolutely breathtaking. Meteora is a huge cluster of dark rocks that rise out of Kalambaka, near the first hills of Pindos and Chassia. The wild and inaccessible landscape was appropriate area for hermits Christians who settled in the area to date is not exactly known. The monasteries of Meteora, which are built on top of some rocks, is currently the second most important monastic group in Greece, after Mount Athos. Of the thirty who have been historically, currently operating only seven, which, since 1988, is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage. Meteora, due to their morphology, offered during the Ottoman ideal retreat for monasticism and preserved monuments of culture and works of post-Byzantine art.

 Meteora, as a geological phenomenon, it has study at times by many Greek and foreign geologists, but is not yet clearly understoodable. It is interesting that neither the Greek Mythology neither the ancient Greeks nor foreign historian has been reported in this area.

Kalampaka

 Kalampaka is a town of Trikala, located 230 km from Thessaloniki.This town built next to rare geological phenomenon of Meteora, and passes near the Peneus River. Inhabited since ancient times by the name Aeginio.
